The Science Center Straubing is the one and only center of its kind in Germany.
In the
middle of all its activities are the so called Renewable Ressources.
The aim
is to reduce the use of fossile ressources and change products and economy to use
of renewable ressources. Scientists and students comprise natural sciences,
engineering, ecosystem sciences and economics in order to cover the wide range
of aspects along the whole value chain from the molecule, along the plant and
energetic use and material use up to the marketing of the finished product. Due to the intersectoral and multidisciplinary character of biogenic resources
colleagues of different scientific disciplines work closely together.
Further members of the Science Center Straubing are: The University Regensburg ,
the Deggendorf Institute of Technology, the Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Regensburg and the University of Applied Sciences Landshut.
In academic education the
Straubing Center of Science offers a master degree program Renewable
Resources and also a bachelor degree program Renewable Resources as
well as PhD theses. The bachelor and master dree programs are a common project of the Technical University Munich (TUM) and the
University of Applied Sciences
Weihenstephan-Triesdorf (HSWT).
The
Science Center Straubing will grow continuesly. In 2020 round about 1.000 students will be able to study in Straubing. The staff will grow up to 31 professors and 400 employees. The available room will rise to nearly 16.000 m.
This grow will imply new degree programs!
