Launch of architectural competition for the new building"Green Chemistry" in Straubing

Science Center will be expanded of a teaching and research building - 37 million from the State

STRAUBING / MUNICH. "37 million invested by the Free State into a new teaching and research building on the right bank of the Danube - which is a clear commitment to science Straubing," says Secretary of Science Bernd Sibler to the start of the architectural competition for a new building at the Science Centre Straubing. It plans to expand the center to the construction of "Green Chemistry". This should contain not only lecture halls, research and training laboratories and offices and a cafeteria. "The expansion is another important step towards the future, the science center but is now considered with its partner universities as one of the top names in the research area of renewable resources," said Secretary of State.

Architects from all over Europe are called upon to endeavor to participate in the design competition. Straubing Mayor Markus Pannermayr expects highly innovative competition entries: "We are delighted that the Free State of Bavaria is investing heavily in the expansion of university buildings in Straubing and now with the architectural competition also starts the concrete phase of implementation. Future issue of Renewable Resources

In the Science Center Straubing currently cooperate six Bavarian universities to the future, Renewable resources, including the Technical University of Munich and the University of Weihenstephan-Triesdorf as founding institutions. Research priorities are the material use and energy recovery as well as economic aspects related to the generation and use of renewable resources. Since 2008 there is a master's program "Renewable Resources", also offered a bachelor's degree since 2013.
