Tasks and Objectives
Basic research activities as well as application-oriented research and development projects related to biogenic resources are carried out at the Science Center Straubing.
This is done for the material use as well as for the energy use of biogenic resources. Of course the academic eduction is another objective. |
The academic education of young scientists at present mainly takes place within the context of master and PhD theses. From 2008 on it is planned to establish an independent master course for biogenic resources in cooperation with the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences of Vienna.
Furthermore, the Science Center Straubing cooperates with several partners from industry and commerce as well as from politics and administration. Of course, the interested public is informed on numerous events, too.
Due to the intersectoral and multidisciplinary character of biogenic resources colleagues of different scientific disciplines work closely together at the Science Center Straubing. In order to cover the wide range of topics related to biogenic resources (from the molecule to marketing of products) during study courses and research projects these disciplines comprise natural sciences, engineering, ecosystem sciences and economics.
Main subject areas are:
• Analytical Chemistry
• Chemistry and Molecular Biology
• Pharmaceutical Biology
• Biogenic Materials
• Geothermic
• Raw materials and energy technology
• Economics
• Marketing and Management
